Under Armour Redefines the Science of Speed

1.

Sneaker Report caught up with Under Amour Senior Creative Director Dave Dombrow and SVP of Innovation Kevin Haley to discuss the launch of the SpeedForm Apollo running shoe and the brand's expectations for Sochi.

The Baltimore brand launched its most innovative running shoe to date at Grand Central Station in NYC last week to kick off a weekend of brand experience centered events. Before revealing the shoe, Under Armour CEO and founder Kevin Plank welcomed American Ballet Theatre star Misty Copeland to the brand (now in the company of much burlier representatives Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton and MMA champ Georges St. Pierre) and announced the first NYC store set to open in Soho this April. It's clear that this will be a year of growth for brand that introduced the first performance t-shirt almost eighteen years ago.

The SpeedForm has come a long way since Sneaker Report visited the design duo behind the brand's innovative technology last June. Building on the original concept of the SpeedForm, Kevin Plank is confident about the Apollo, claiming "This has potential to be our next defining product" after reviewing the ever-growing roster of UA technologies.

Check out what UA has to say about their expectations for Sochi and the SpeedForm Apollo and stay tuned for the latest news from Under Armour.
