It’s that time of year again when distance runners from all corners of the world descend upon the Big Apple with high aspirations of completing the prestigious New York City Marathon. After being cancelled last year thanks to some broad named Sandy, the epic 26.2-mile through the five boroughs is back, and if Day 1 of the marathon expo is any indication, this year’s race could very well be one of the biggest ever in terms of participation.
As expected, runners turned out in scores at the Javits Center to catch a glimpse of all the goodness running brands have to offer for this year’s edition of the NYC Marathon. On the product side of things, all the heavy hitters showed up with their latest crop of footwear, including adidas, Asics (which is the official sponsor of the race), New Balance, Saucony, Mizuno and many more.
While brands like Asics and New Balance continued their annual trend of unveiling special edition running shoes inspired by the big city, others like adidas took the opportunity to debut new models altogether.
In honor of this weekend’s race, here’s a roundup of the best sneakers from the 2013 NYC Marathon Expo. Expect to see a lot of these shoes crossing the finish line on Sunday.
