It has been quite a week for Nike Soccer. With all eyes on tomorrow’s friendly invitational pairing Team USA vs. Germany, the Swoosh unveiled their latest technical achievement, the Hypervenom, debuting a super light Nikeskin upper over a slightly wider, lower build. The cleat is said to improve agility and ball control thanks to this innovative new material.
Sneaker Report caught up with US Team Captain and Tottenham foward, Clint Dempsey, to talk about his initial thoughts about the new cleat. Having worn prototypes and the final product, the American powerhouse shared his thoughts on the cleat and what it takes to make a winning boot.

We’re looking to your big game on Sunday, will you be sporting the Hypervenom?
Yeah, looking forward to the big game. We’re playing against Germany, which has a lot of great players that play for some of the best clubs in the world. I’m also looking forward to wearing the new boot, it’s very comfortable, very light, and hopefully it will help me score some goals.
How often have you worn the new cleat?
I got to wear the prototype a few times in training when I was at Tottenham, but today was the first time I got to wear the final product. I was very happy with the it, it’s very light since it has the Nikeskin which gives you some more control on the ball, it has a split toe, also you have just a bit more movement in there. It’s really a shoe made for agility, so I hope it can help me score some more goals.
