Some of the best active collections in the past years have been inspired by natural settings, eschewing the urban environment for the quiet running trails, yoga retreats and newfound swimming spots the equipment is made for.

As we at Sneaker Report are superfans of adidas by Stella McCartney, there is no doubt the collaboration has its hits (um, Charlize Theron sporting this top in Vogue) and misses (hmmm), but ultimately these risks have propelled women's activewear forward since its launch in 2005. The Fall / Winter collection continues to explore studio, yoga, wintersports, running and outdoor categories with dip-dyed base layers and structured layering in ultra-feminine, experimental silhouettes. In an earthy color palette that reminds us of the peacefulness of an autumn run or the jolt that comes with the first icy morning workout, Stella inspires female athletes to match their mood to their look.

To reflect the growing trail running category (and super cool adidas Outdoor influence), adidas by Stella McCartney will release their first-ever trail shoe, the adiZero XT Train Run shoe. Featuring the revolutionary TRAXIONTM outsole technology and a lightweight, protective upper, the shoe will be available in three all-over prints -- Cargo, Red Zest and Woodgrain. According to the lookbook (see below), it looks like the Stella Boost 2.0 will be back in reimagined fall colorways along with a Stella version of the Pure Boost.

It doesn't look like adidas hasn't sprung to provide any hardgoods for the collaboration, but we'll keep dreaming that 2016 will bring us those adidas by Stella skis and snowboards that we've been hoping for. (How dope would that be? If Lacoste can do it, can't adidas? Can you image the print / tonal possibilities here? Siiiiigh)

For those eager to buy out the next Stella collection, the remainders of Spring 2014 are on sale now at adidas.com. (*Please start snatching these up so we can't!)
