Roger Federer at the 2009 Australian Open

Going into the 2009 Australian Open, Roger Federer was just one title short of tying Pete Sampras' record 14 mens grand slam singles championships. Unfortunately for Federer, Rafael Nadal stood in his way and defeated him in five sets.

Amidst his bawling, an exasperated Federer managed to mutter, "God it’s killing me."

Winner or Loser? A dramatic loss.

Jana Novotna at the 1993 Wimbledon Championships

Not only does Jana Novotna's Wimbledon whimper go down as one of the most infamous crying incidents in sports history, it also goes down as one of the biggest choke jobs. Pitted against the No. 1 seeded Steffi Graff, Novotna utterly self destructed and ended up crying on the shoulder Katharine, Duchess of Kent.

Winner or Loser? Hiccup. Loser. Hiccup.

Andy Murray at the 2012 Wimbledon Championships

Andy Murray howled in front of his hometown fans when he was bested by Roger Federer in the Wimbledon Finals in 2012, but England's native son would redeem himself by capturing the gold medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London later on that summer and the 2013 Wimbledon title.

Winner or Loser? Sometimes you have to lose in order to win. This loss powered Murray to make 2013 his most successful year yet.

Serena Williams at the 2012 Brisbane International

We are used to seeing Serena crying after grand slam championship victories, but these tears are no tears of joy. Serena wailed in frustration after an injury forced the superstar to withdraw from the 2012 Brisbane International Tennis Tournament.

Winner or Loser? In a rare occurrence, Serena did not take the win that day.

Victoria Azarenka at the 2013 Australian Open

Victoria Azarenka caught a lot of slack for the timeout she called during the semi-finals of the 2013 Australian Open, so when when she claimed the tournament title over Li Na in the finals tears of relief rolled down the champ's cheeks.

Winner or Loser? Winner! (cue Azarenka bird coo noise)

Vera Zvonareva at the 2010 Wimbledon Championships

The 2010 women's doubles final at Wimbledon was the first matchup between two unseeded teams since 1975. Despite the impressive accomplishment of just making the finals, Vera Zvonareva's emotions got the best of her when her and teammate Elena Vesnina were defeated by the pair of Vania King and Yaroslava Shvedova.

Winner or Loser? Zvonareva's been known to bite, smash and kick her racket. This moment captures a calmer approach.

Winner or Loser? Loser that day, but he's still married to Brooklyn Decker so we'll let you make the call.

Andre Agassi at the 2006 US Open

Andre Agassi's four-set loss sent the tennis legend both into retirement and into a wailing fit of tears. Technically, Agassi was a loser in this situation, but in the grand scheme of things you have to consider him a winner.

Winner or Loser? Winner. It's Agassi!

Martina Hingis at the 1999 French Open

Just three points away from claiming her sixth grand slam title, Martina Hingis melted down and ceded to Steffi Graff in the 1999 women's French Open finals. Thankfully for Martina, her mother was there to console her after the match.

Winner or Loser? Loser (Those Yonex tees are winning though, clearly.)

Novak Djokovic at the 2008 Australian Open

At 20 years old, Novak Djokovic was just a baby in 2008 at the Australian Open. He happened to cry like one too when he captured his first grand slam championship with a victory over Jo-Wilfried Tsonga down under.

Winner or Loser? Epic win for Djoker.
