Social media has taken the sporting world by storm, in both positive and negative ways. Platforms like Instgram, Facebook and most importantly, Twitter, give fans an opportunity to connect with players on a more personal level that was previously unattainable. The importance of social media in sports has grown rapidly, and although not all organizations endorse it, the Pittsburgh Steelers are taking it to another level.

The Steelers, like many NFL teams, recently began holding their first round of practices this past week and began evaluating incoming talent and draft picks. Numerous players around the practice were spotted with these exclusive gold visors, that have the @Steelers Twitter handle printed on them.

No word on if Roger Goodell will let player's wear these on field when games kick off this season, but if it's another way to improve revenue and bring in even more money, you can bet the house the NFL will consider it.
