Trail running has gained a lot of momentum over the last couple of year. Fittingly, footwear brands have made it a point to up their game in the off-road category. Today, we take a closer look at the upcoming trail runner from New Balance, the Minimus 10v2 Trail set to drop in Spring 2013.

If you were a fan of the original Minimus 10 Trail, then you’ll be glad to know that the updates on the latest version aren’t anything major. The biggest design change can be found on the outsole, where NB removed enough rubber to decrease the overall weight of the shoe without compromising its durability and traction. The updated version also comes with an improved forefoot band, which replaces rubber for a more traditional synthetic material so it doesn’t restrict the foot as much. Also new in the 10v2 is NB’s NuFoam material, which adds flexibility and additional support in the forefoot. A re-designed Vibram sole and new, vivid colorways round out this minimal trail shoe from New Balance.

With a release date set for March 2013, the NB 10v2 Trail will have a price tag of $110.
