With the soccer season looming, adidas is gearing up by debuting all new kits for some of the top clubs in the world. For Real Madrid, the Three Stripes wanted to do something special so they reached out to famed Y-3 designer, Yohji Yamamoto, to launch a new third kit for the defending UEFA Champions League winners.
The all-black kit aims to unify the values of Madridismo focused on its two main elements, greatness and determination. The elements are represented by Dragons throughout the kit, that connects back to Yamamoto's Eastern culture. The kit comes in a black design, with white trim and accents throughout the branding. The front of the jersey features a Dragon king to symbolize the greatness, glory and power of the club, and a Dragon bird, to represent the clubs resistance, determination and agility on its way to the victory.
In conjunction with the Real Madrid third-kit, adidas also unveiled the latest limited edition Yohji Yamamoto adizero F50 cleat. The cleat comes off the success of Yamamoto's F50 boot, this year draws inspiration from Japan's modern sci-fi culture and features striking blue and green colorways with traditional art that makes a truly funky, and unique soccer boot.
