Thought adidas would just sit back quietly while Nike attempts to revolutionize the soccer cleat? Think again.

adidas' roots in the soccer market go back nearly a decade and have a history of nearly 90 years of developing sneakers, shoes, and cleats specifically for soccer. Today, adidas gave players a glimpse at their latest innovation, the adidas Primeknit FS, the first knitted cleat/sock hybrid.

Following last week's release of the adidas Samba Primeknit, the Three stripes were ready to roll out their modern take on their age old product. The adidas Primeknit FS features a unique sock silhouette design to provide a premium fit, and improved feel of touch between the players foot and the ball. The Primeknit FS is currently a concept model, but adidas is testing the boot with players to finalize the design and get it ready for launch later this year.

Stay tuned to Sneaker Report for future updates and release information about the adidas Primeknit FS.
