adidas Unveils the adizero NBA Short Sleeve Uniform System for the Golden State Warriors

NBA teams get new uniforms all the time, but adidas’ new short sleeve uniforms for the Golden State Warriors are a whole new breed, both in terms of aesthetics and performance.

At a press conference earlier today, adidas and the Warriors unveiled what looks to be the future of basketball jerseys in the adizero Short Sleeve Uniform System. The new-look uniforms may look like they belong on a high school basketball court, but adidas is assuring us that they will go a long ways in helping improve players’ performance on the hardwood.

“Players on every court like to have a unique sense of style,” said Lawrence Norman, the VP of adidas global basketball. “We were excited to work side-by-side for the last 18 months with the Warriors, one of the NBA’s youngest and most exciting teams, to develop this unique uniform system that helps maintain peak player performance while ensuring comfort, fit and style.”

The adizero Short Sleeve Uniform System is said to be 28 percent lighter than Golden State’s current unis—which, in theory, will allow players to move faster with less drag. Connecting the sleeves to the shirt is a 360-degree stretch woven material that is designed to allow unrestricted movement of the arms and shoulders (an element that is meant to mimic the traditional jersey design). In addition to being performance heavy, the jerseys are made from 60 percent recycled materials, which should appeal to the eco-friendly NBA fans out there.

Tune in on Friday, February 22 to see the Warriors showcase their new look when then face the San Antonio Spurs.
