When images of the Allen Iverson themed Zoom Flight 96 first surfaced, many people questioned how Nike could use the likelihood of a Reebok endorsed athlete. Well apparently, Iverson isn't down with the shoes and forced Nike to cancel the upcoming release.

According to AP, Iverson's lawyer Derek Challenger contacted Nike to question the legality of dropping a shoe inspired by his client. The shoes clearly feature a 76er's inspired colorway, and feature Iverson's signature #3 on the back of the heel. Nike spokesman KeJuan Wilkins commented on the shoes saying that "Nike has made a business decision to not move forward with the shoe in the red/blue and white/purple colorways. However, two colorways inspired by the original 1996 colorways will still be available for purchase."

On Reebok's end, the cancelation comes off as somewhat hypocritical, as last year they dropped the Reebok Question Pack, which was clearly influenced by LeBron James and Kobe Bryant (both Nike endorsed athletes). There was no official release date that came down from Nike, but the canceled release will now make these Zoom Flight 96's a highly sought after commodity. Let us know what you think Iverson forcing Nike to cancel the release, and check out AP's story for more information.
