Marion Bartoli

Yesterday, Marion Bartoli of France captured her first Grand Slam title as she won the Wimbledon women’s singles. Matched up against Germany’s Sabine Lisicki, Bartoli was able to slow the 23-year-old’s momentum, winning in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4. Lisicki had been on quite a roll, ousting Serena Williams in what many analysts considered an upset, and going the distance with Radwanska in the semifinals. But Bartoli, previously ranked World No. 15, was able to shut down Lisicki, who was visibly fatigued from the lengthy tournament. It’s been a long time coming for the French veteran, who made her 47th Grand Slam appearance, more than any other woman who hadn’t won a title.

From her current sponsor Lotto to her initial run with Nike, Sneaker Report celebrates the women’s champ with a look back on The Best Sneakers Worn by Marion Bartoli.
