Ever since adidas unveiled Boost cushioning in its running footwear last year, there has been much debate as to if and when the high-energy return midsole technology will make its way onto the basketball court. Well it looks like we may finally have an answer to that question (sort of).

While release information is ways away, today we get a detailed look at the D Rose 5—which, you guessed it, features a Boost midsole. While the latest Derrick Rose signature doesn’t feature a complete design overhaul, the shoe does boast a new look and feel to it. In addition to being the first model in the series to sit atop a Boost unit, the branding on the shoe has been flipped. The D Rose logo that is usually found on the tongue has been moved to the heel and in its place, adidas has added its trademark Three Stripes logo.

While we await further confirmation from adidas in regards to the shoe’s tech, it looks like D Rose will have a slightly more ankle support with his latest mid-top shoe. Maybe—just maybe—that’ll be enough to keep him healthy enough to get back on the hardwood.
