Two years as a Jordan Brand athlete were apparently enough for Dwyane Wade, as the 2-time NBA Champion has officially signed an endorsement deal with Beijing-based sportswear company Li-Ning, according to a source close to the situation.

The timing of Wade’s decision is about right, given his contract with Jordan Brand expired yesterday, October 1st. In fact, rumors of the move had been swirling around the media for the past month.

Although Li-Ning doesn’t have much of a presence in the United States, signing a superstar like D-Wade is certainly a step towards grabbing some market share from the likes of Nike. In addition to Wade, Li-Ning sponsors a handful of other NBA players, including Philadelphia’s Evan Turner, who tweeted on Monday: “I’d like to welcome the home D Wade to the Li-Ning family!!” Of course, since then, the tweet has been removed, and we’re still waiting on the official terms of the contract.

Stay tuned for the latest news on the move.
