Thanks to the brilliance of the Asics GT-2000 series, the lesser-known GT-1000 has flown somewhat under the radar. But all that changes with the arrival of the GT-1000 2.

The latest generation of the versatile running shoe features a series of upgrades for improved performance and looks. In terms of technical features, the GT-1000 2 is virtually identical to the GT-2000 2. You get the same Gel cushioning units in the rearfoot and forefoot for shock absorption, the same Guidance Trusstic System for gait efficiency, and Dynamic DuoMax system for support and stability. The only major difference between the two models is that the GT-1000 2 has the same SpEVA midsole as the previous generation, whereas the GT-2000 2 has been upgraded to the next-gen FluidRide unit (which is slightly lighter and has a bit more bounce). The shoe features a full-blown rubber outsole that is tuned primarily for mild to moderate overpronators. The outsole pattern is compatible with road running, as well as some light trail action.
