After its release last year, the Asics GT-2000 has quickly become a popular amongst runners of all types. So it should come as no surprise that Asics has decided to bring back the lightweight neutral trainer for another go-around.

In October 2013, Asics will roll out the GT-2000 2 with the same bones that gave the initial version immediate success, but with upgrades in key areas to really put the shoe over the top. The GT-2000 2 weighs at about half an ounce lighter (11 oz) than its predecessor--most of which can be attributed to a fresh new upper designed to fit more snug.

As it did with the current model, Asics will roll out a Gore-Tex version of the GT-2000 2 for all-weather use, along with a Trail edition as well. This time around, the fit on the GT-2000 2 will be gender-specific. The women’s version has repositioned cushioning to better conform to their feet.
