If you haven’t heard about the upcoming Mizuno Wave Rider 16 sneaker release, listen up. The latest edition of the highly acclaimed Wave Rider series will have you aching to get outside and run your ass off—hurricane or not.

While you’d think that it’s nearly impossible to improve on an already-great running sneaker, Mizuno (as it’s done consistently in the past) has found the way to raise the bar yet again. The Wave Rider 16 isn’t just lighter than it’s predecessor (0.7 ounces to be exact), it also comes with an improved chassis. In the heel, you’ll find newly introduced SR Touch technology, which provides a high resiliency and quick bounce back, resulting in a smooth and fluid ride. To improve the fit of the shoe, Mizuno has done away with unnecessary overlays on the upper, and added an internal hot melt synthetic that provides a secure, lightweight fit. Pending a Sneaker Report performance review, this could very well be the best running sneaker of the year.

The Wave Rider 16 will be available in thee initial colorways starting November 5, 2012, with two additional color options to be available in March 2013. The price tag for the 16 is at a reasonable $115.
