When it comes to uniform design, the Fresno State football program, whose most significant uniform modification from 1997-2010 was eliminating “Fresno State” from the front of the jerseys, has historically taken the more traditional approach, but times they are a-changin’ in good ol' Fresno, California.

After unveiling a new white helmet to go with the team’s classic red and white uniforms this year, for the first time in school history the No. 16 ranked Bulldogs will hit the field in all-black uniforms for the team’s Mountain West Conference showdown against Nevada on Saturday.

Tonight’s soldout game at Bulldog Stadium has been dubbed a “Blackout” game, as fans have also been invited to join in on the black-on-black festivities. As far as the players go, star wide receiver Davante Adams gave us a preview back in July of what the ‘Dogs will look like in their new alternate uniforms. A complete departure from the classic Fresno State look, the uniforms comprise of black jerseys and pants featuring red and white detailing on the team and conference branding, as well as player names and numbers. The team will also don a new helmet design, which features a matte black finish with a tapered red strip running down the middle. The Bulldog logo on the helmet has also been updated for a completely streamlined look.
