It’s official: Gareth Bale, the former Tottenham midfielder, has agreed to terms with Spanish giants Real Madrid, making him the world’s most expensive transfer in club soccer.

After news broke of the potential move over the weekend, on Monday, the 24-year-old Wales international was officially welcomed to the team in front of thousands of fans at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium. The marquee signing gives Real Madrid one of the most dangerous attacking combinations in soccer, as Bale joins fellow superstar Cristiano Ronaldo on the front line—a move that should help the squad stay even with FC Barcelona, which features Lionel Messi and recently-signed Neymar.

The signing also means Bale will put on an adidas-branded kit instead of Under Armour, to match the adidas F50 cleats he already plays in.
