The growth of training specific sneakers is on the rise as everyone and their mother is on a health kick these days. Nike just unveiled their latest womens footwear innovation with the Zoom Fit Agility, and it could revolutionize the way we look at training shoes going forward.
Designed with the athlete in mind, the Zoom Fit Agility features the new highly responsive Zoom Air unit to give you an extra spring in your step, which could lead to one extra squat or box jump during your next training session. First debuted in the LeBron 12, the new Zoom Air outsole features tightly stretched fibers woven inside the unit which compress and react on impact, providing the responsiveness to navigate through the toughest workouts. The system also allows for increased flexibility within the shoe, due to the independent hexagonal air bags which flex in multiple directions, and provide cushioning where you need it the most.
The Nike Zoom Fit Agility is a perfect example of our data-informed design,” says Nicole Mueller, the Nike Women’s Training Footwear Design Director. “We look at the female athlete’s six core moves — lunge, squat, push, pull, bend and rotate — and study the resulting pressure mapping data. The Nike Zoom pattern on the outsole provides cushioning and responsiveness where she feels the most pressure underfoot in her workouts.”
We knew Nike would integrate the new Zoom Air across it's footwear line, but to be honest we expected to be more on the running and basketball side of things. By utilizing the new tech for training shoes, Nike's jumping on the latest craze, without going away from what made their trainers so successful in the past such as a breathable mesh upper, and Dynamic Flywire for support.
“When I first tried the Nike Zoom Fit Agility, I noticed how light it was,” says professional basketball player Skylar Diggins. “It makes me feel faster. And it’s really comfortable. If a shoe is uncomfortable, it becomes a distraction and takes away from your workout.”
The Zoom Fit Agility will be available at select retailers and at the Nike Store beginning October 1.
