Nike all but dominated the college sports scene this year, as all four teams going to the college football playoffs are sponsored by the Swoosh. However, it's not all good news for Nike as reports are circulating that they could be losing one of the biggest, and longest tenured schools, the University of Miami.

Nike's been the official supplier of apparel and footwear for "The U" for more then 27 years, but that relationship could be coming to an end. Reports from the Palm Beach Post surfaced that Miami has not renewed its contract with Nike which is set to expire at end of August of 2015. Nike signed Miami back in 1987 when "The U" was approaching it's height and they were one of the most dominating programs in all of college sports. At the time, the signing was a game changer on how brands and schools interact as the agreement stretched across all sports for both men and women, which wasn't the norm at the time.

So who could be in line to sign with Miami? The two that come to mind are of course adidas and Under Armour. With their current deal, Nike has the opportunity to match any offer from another brand, but it might be too rich even for the Swoosh, as the Palm Beach Post is reporting Under Armour and adidas' deals are expected to be "several million dollars richer per year than Nike's deal". This wouldn't be the first school to ditch Nike, as just a few days ago, Arizona State ended their longtime relationship with Nike to sign on with adidas, who offered the Sun Devils nearly double the amount per year that Nike was offering.

Could signing with adidas effect Miami's ability to recruit? Let us know your thoughts and keep it locked for all future information on which path Miami decides to take.
