For the first time since 2006, the Air Jordan V "Fire Red" returns to retailers in retro form today. The Air Jordan V was worn by Michael Jordan during the end of the '89-90 and beginning of the '90-91 NBA seasons, just months before capturing his first NBA championship. Throughout the '89-90 regular season, His Airness dominated, leading Chicago to a 55-27 overall record and dashing the Cleveland Cavaliers playoff hopes with an unforgettable career-high 69 point performance. Similarly, the beginning of the '90-91 season was full of big-number games.
When it comes to this particular "Fire Red" makeup, they were rarely seen on Jordan's feet as he often opted for the Black/Metallic and the "Fire Red" variation with a 3M tongue. However, Mike did wear them briefly before the introduction of the Air Jordan VI, and to celebrate the release of this classic style, Sneaker Report looks back on Michael Jordan's Best Performances in the Air Jordan V "Fire Red".
