To follow up the Brooks Running and adidas Outdoor SS14 footwear previews from earlier this week, today we take a look at what New Balance has on tap for runners next year.

From its ever-expanding Minimus line to the newly unveiled Fresh Foam 980, there’s something for every type of runner in New Balance’s Spring ’14 collection. In the stability category, NB has updated such models as the 890v4, which had an extended crash pad for improved flexibility and a more conical last for a streamlined fit. The popular 1080 series has also been updated, with the 1080v4 featuring more cushioning and a cleaner design. Updates have also been made to the 1400v2 racing flat, which has been trimmed down for increased comfort without affecting performance.

New Balance will introduce new additions to its popular Miniums series, including the all-new Minimus 007 trainer designed specifically for obstacle races. Also included is the Minimus Zero z2 Trail, which features a new outsole with redesigned lugs for better traction on off-road terrain.

Last but not least, NB is set to roll out the Fresh Foam unveiled last week. The first model to get the innovative midsole unit is the Fresh Foam 980. The shoe, which has been designed using cutting-edge 3D printing, is a lightweight neutral trainer that features super soft cushioning that is surprisingly responsive.

The NB Spring ’14 collection will begin to hit retailers starting January 2014. We’ll have a detailed breakdown of each shoe in the coming weeks.
