New Balance is taking the idea of tennis shoes very literally these days. In a combined effort with Mita, New Balance just unveiled the "Battle of Surfaces" collaboration shoe and it's unlike any other tennis shoe you've seen before.

Taking one of their classic runners, the MRT580, New Balance joined forces with Mita to come up with this tennis ball inspired shoe. The upper is made from neon yellow felt, similar to what the covering of tennis balls are made from. New Balance added in white accents to further give off the tennis ball vibe, and even added in a heavily cushioned removable insole to boost the comfort level.

Dubbed the "Battle of Surfaces", New Balance also offers up a short video on the inspiration behind the collaboration and leaves us hoping they run with this idea even further. The Mita x New Balance MRT580 "Battle of Surfaces" is currently available internationally, but keep it locked for further information on a US release.
