The 2013 MLB All-Star Game is set to take over Citi Field in just a few weeks from now, and to honor the host team—the New York Mets—New Balance unveils the follow-up to the MB4040v1 baseball cleat, the MB4040v2 in a special edition colorway inspired by New York City and the Mets.

Featuring Orange/Blue highlights throughout (including a digi-camo print on the liner), the MB4040v2 “All Star” will make its debut on the feet of NB-endorsed athletes at the July 16th game, before being released to the public next month. Available in both a mid and low-top silhouette, the cleat is designed to help fielders make highlight plays on the diamond. The latest version features a modified upper for a lighter frame and better comfort overall. In some ways, it looks like a running shoe with spikes—which is certainly a compliment for any performance shoe. For traction, the MB4040v2 features a durable yet flexible outsole lined with metal spikes made to rip through the dirt as you round the bases.

You can grab a pair of the NB MB4040v2 starting August 1, 2013. Price for the shoe is yet to be determined.
