A bit of great news for skateboarders has emerged today. Soon, there will be yet another brand offering griptape-ready footwear: New Balance. Known primarily for their classic casual models and groundbreaking performance tech, the brand is looking to branch out into the world of trucks and axles next year.

Partnering with Black Box Distribution out of Carlsbad, CA, NB will look to serve skateboarders with their newest models. Although the technical aspects of these sneakers aren't yet clear, it's safe to assume they will be board-ready when you pick them up in 2013.

“New Balance is proud to partner with Black Box on the New Balance Numeric skate footwear initiative,” says Rob DeMartini, President & CEO at New Balance. “As one of the most authentic and talented skate companies in the industry, Black Box offers industry knowledge and a strong commitment to skate specialty retailers that matches well with our 107-year-old tradition of delivering technical design-forward performance products for athletes.”

Be sure to stick with Sneaker Report for more on this exciting collaboration, slated for a full preview on January 4th.
