With the Nike World Basketball Festival and the FIBA Basketball World Cup just around the corner, Nike rolls out the new USA Basketball uniforms, which just happen to be the Swoosh's lightest uniform in history.
The uniform for Team USA not only bring the most advanced design innovations to maximize player performance, but also takes elements from Team USA's and Nike's history to tell a story. The angle of the USA graphic across the chest was inspired by the classic Nike Windrunner track jacket from 1978. Both the home and away uniforms fuse together traditional red, white and blue colors crossing the front of the game jersey, fading into a representation of the USA flag.
The jerseys are the lightest and most advanced Nike's ever made, as the ultra-lightweight stretch mesh in the back of the jersey regulates temperature on the spine, where athlete's tend to emit the most heat. The Hyper Elite jersey also features moisture wicking properties, which eliminates the clinging from excess sweat, and allows players to stay dry and perform their best on the court.
The new uniform kit will be available at the Nike Store beginning August 7, and will debut on-court when the USA Basketball Men’s National Team takes on the Brasil Men’s National team in an exhibition game at Chicago's United Center at 8 p.m. CDT.
