Calvin “Megatron” Johnson is a beast on the football field. But he didn’t get that way without a lot of training off the field. So to honor Johnson’s dedication to training, unveils the All-Pro wideout’s first ever signature shoe, the Nike CJ81 Trainer Max.

After getting a brief preview of what the shoe’s design will look like back in April, today, we get a breakdown of what the shoe will entail in terms of performance. Featuring a similar design to Johnson’s CJ81 on-field cleat, the CJ81 Trainer Max is designed with all the firepower need to hold up to No. 81’s grueling training routine. Of course Johnson is a big-bodied receiver, who needs a supportive fit. So Nike added a dynamic mid-foot arch strap that cradles the foot and holds it securely in place. The trainer also features a Max Air unit in the sole for cushioning and impact resistance, along with a unique traction system that offers reliable footing across a variety of surfaces. The shoe’s diamond perforated upper is engineered to conform to the foot without restricting it, and also enhances the breathability so athletes can train harder, longer.

The Nike CJ81 Trainer Max will be available starting tomorrow, June 29, at Nike.
