The Super Bowl is perhaps the biggest stage in all of sports. As the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens make last minute preparations in hopes of achieving football glory this Sunday in New Orleans, Nike too has been busy at work creating a new, performance-packed cleat for the two Super teams—the Nike Alpha Pro.
We first caught a glimpse of the Alpha Pro cleats on the feet of the Oregon Ducks during the recent college bowl season. But for this grand occasion, Nike has rolled out special editions of the cleats in both a 49ers and Ravens colorway.
Designed to be even faster than the Vapor Talon Elite model, the Alpha Pro features a redesigned outsole cleat pattern for greater bursts of speed and quicker lateral movements. The cleat is constructed with Nike Flywire for a lock down fit—after all, what would a Nike shoe be without Flywire. In addition, the Alpha Pro comes with a 3/4 length Phylon midsole for support in both the heel and the midfoot, along with a Pebax outsole traction system.
Of course this isn’t college football, it’s the pros (where guys have their own endorsement deals)—so don’t expect to see the Alpha Pros on the feet of every player on the field. But those who do elect to lace up in these on Sunday should have a slight advantage in the footwear department.
