With the idea that a shoe should be an extension of your foot, designer Eric Avar at Nike created the Air Flightposite basketball shoe. Like the Air Foamposite One just two years prior, the 1999 Flightposite featured a sleek and seamless design that was as versatile as it was flashy. To hammer the point home, Nike even replaced laces with a zipper for even greater streamlining.  Avar and his team took the fluid and organic elements from concept cars of the time to create something that would look great and still offer the athlete optimal support and protection.
