On the baseball diamond, errors are a fairly regular occurrence for fielders. An error is defined as an instance when a fielder makes a mistake that allows a batter to reach or advance a base. Even the best players are vulnerable to errors, and only a handful have gone through a full season without an error.

On this day in 2007, Placido Polanco of the Detroit Tigers completed his 144th consecutive game without an error during Detroit's 7-2 loss to Oakland, making it the longest stretch among any second baseman in history. In all, he had a whopping 911 fielding chances without an error. Polanco would go on to extend the streak to 149 games, and finished the 2007 without a single error. This made him the only everyday second baseman in history to finish a season with no errors, and he was honored with the Golden Glove Award.

The two-time MLB All-Star and three-time Golden Glove winner has worn a number of brands throughout his 15 year professional career, including Nike, Reebok, and the up-and-coming Verdero. During his record-setting 2007 run, Polanco wore Reebok cleats. Although this exact model is no longer for sale, the Reebok Zig Cooperstown offers a similar style with current tech like a ZigTech midsole and durable ToeTraction. Try them today for $70.
