During the late '80s and early '90s, Stefan Edberg was one of the dominant players around. After an incredibly successful junior career, Edberg quickly picked up the pace professionally, earning his first Grand Slam title at the 1985 Australian Open. Throughout his career, the former World No. 1 ranked player won a total of 6 Grand Slams and also made it to the finals of the 1989 French Open. With a career record of 806-270 and 42 titles, Edberg's serve-and-volley style led him to collect $20,630,941 in earnings, which ranks 11th amongst the all-time highest.

As he approached the 1992 US Open finals, No. 2 ranked Edberg was still reeling from one of the biggest challenges of his career. After a grueling 5 hour and 26 minute semifinal match against Michael Chang, Edberg pulled out a victory in five sets. From there, on September 13, 1992, he met No. 3 ranked Pete Sampras in the men's singles finals. This match would prove to be slightly less of a headache for Edberg, who ousted Sampras 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5), 6-2. The 1992 US Open title would be the last Grand Slam win of Edberg's highly respectable career.

When it came to sneakers, Stefan Edberg was an adidas guy through and through. He wore the Three Stripes brand for the entirety of his career, and was most often associated with his Edberg signature model. Although they're not currently for sale today, the adidas Edberg has lived on as one of the most iconic tennis sneakers of all time.
