Since the introduction of the tennis Open Era in 1968, German legend Steffi Graf's 22 Grand Slam singles titles rank as the most amongst male or female players. Truly at the top of her class, Graf holds a total of 107 career titles, which is the third highest of all time. Now retired, Graf's prolific career stretched from 1982 to 1999, and along the way she raked in over $20 million in prize money, the 5th largest total earnings in the sport's history.
Known for her forceful forehand drive, the peak of Graf's professional career came during the late '80s to mid '90s, where she captured 14 of her 22 Grand Slam titles. On October 2, 1991, Steffi Graf was just 22 years and three months old and won the 500th match of her career against Czechoslovakia's Petra Langrova. Winning in straight sets 6-0, 6-1, Graf became the youngest women's player to reach the 500 win mark. "It was such a long time ago that I won my first one. The 500th victory is not something I can just overlook," Graf said of the historic win.
While Graf's husband and fellow tennis legend Andre Agassi bounced between brands throughout his career, the 22-time Grand Slam winner was known for exclusively wearing adidas.
