For most of us, running is a personal matter. Done in solidarity and isolation, running is often a way to release the stress of the day and get some much needed alone time, but it doesn't have to be that way. In major cities around the world, runners are banding together and building crews as a new way to enjoy their favorite past time. Equinox put together this short film that follows three different running crews from all corners of the world, and give an inside perspective into spirit and dedication they carry.

For members of these crews, the general principles behind running comes secondary. Less worried about personal bests, or how many calories they burned, these crews are more focused on the love of the running, and the family aspect that comes from it. Tearing through cities like Tokyo, New York, Amsterdam and many more, the bonds these crew members make goes well beyond the fitness benefits, as they do it for the love of the culture and shared experience the crews feel.

"The community is far more important than the actual physical things that we do," says Charlie Dark, poet, writer, DJ, and founder of London’s Run Dem Crew, who are featured in the video below. "People feel that they need to belong to something."

Check out the video and start up your crew today, it could change the way you view running forever.
