REVIEW: Brooks Running Ghost 5

The Ghost series has remained the Brooks Running answer for entry level runners for several sneaker generations.

Acting as a rival to the Asics Gel Nimbus and the Mizuno's Wave Creation series, the Ghost 5 is a well-cushioned kick for runners with a defined heel-to-toe strike. This sneaker will take you back to your first days as a running shoe consumer, when finding a substantial kick with the maximum amount of cushioning seemed key to purchasing a shoe that would last day after day for six months. With that said, this is a kick that needs some breaking in, but once you've put in a few miles this will be your go-to kick for running or a variety of training routines.

The Ghost 5 is loaded with cushioning but still allows you to connect to the ground as it is lightweight enough for runners of all speeds and striking variances. With a reliable grip and comfort as a key feature, this is an extremely comfortable sneaker. The Brook's "Crash Pad" component removes as much friction and impact from your feet and legs as possible to avoid injuries and soreness post-run, which adds to the laundry list of reasons why the newest Ghost is worth the $110 price-tag.

Bottom Line: If you are seeking an everyday sneaker with a solid amount of cushioning, this is the kick for you.
