Over a month after the Boston Marathon tragedy, runners unable to complete the race on that infamous day finally got their chance on Saturday.

An estimated 3,000 runners and victims of the April 15th explosions lined up on a rainy day in Boston to run the final mile of the oldest, and one of the most iconic, annual marathons in the world. In a touching display of solidarity, all of the participants crossed the finish line of the OneRun race.

In a similar tribute scheduled just before Sunday’s Indianapolis 500, nearly a thousand miles from Boston, about 35 runners and victims from Indiana and neighboring states will finish the one-half mile from Turn 4 to the famous Yard of Bricks finish line.
