Runner's World has been listing its favorite shoes of the year since their first days in print, seeing runners through decades of waffle soles, hefty cushioning and minimal trends. This year's will be officially announced in the September issue, but here's a quick sneak peek.

The Editor's Choice awards when to Brooks and Saucony for the Ghost 6 and the Omni 12, with New Balance winning Best Update for the 1260 v3 after it shed two ounces, Mizuno's Wave Sayonora won Best Debut and the Nike Air Pegasus+ 30 picked up Best Buy.

Stay tuned for our favorite shoes of the year (so far!) and check out any of the above shoes for a smooth ride this summer.
