If you haven’t paid much attention to Saucony’s Cortana series over the past few years, it’s about time you start to take notice. Later this year, Saucony will roll out the forth iteration of the low-profile neutral running shoe with a series of updates to improve its performance even further.

For a shoe that falls under the “lightweight” category, the Cortana 4 is loaded with more than enough cushioning to appeal in runners in need of more substance underfoot. While the shoe’s weight has been trimmed by .2 ounces (compared to the previous version), it still features that ultra-plush feel that the series has quickly built up a reputation for.

Since the lower half of the Cortana 4—the midsole and outsole—looks the same, the slight weight reduction is thanks in part to reduced overlays on the FlexFilm upper for a more streamlined design. The inside of the shoe features welded overlays instead of traditional seams to help reduce the risk of irritation. The Cortana 4 also features an updated Support Frame for hopefully a more reliable fit.

Further details on the shoe will be revealed closer to its August 2014 release.
