Ever wonder how today’s fastest man in the world, Usain Bolt, would stack up against some of the greats from the past like Carl Lewis and Jesse Owens? The New York Times has just made that comparison possible with their ‘One Race, Every Medalist Ever’ interactive video.

Using the average times of every Olympic 100m winner since 1896, the Times set up an imaginary virtual race to illustrate just how the event and the athletes taking part in it have evolved over time. The result- a gradual progression of speed that could be a result of faster surfaces, newer technology, and physical athletic abilities.

Check out the cool video at NYTimes.
