When Serena Williams is in the zone or focused on her victory nothing could stop her. Even if it was your birthday (as was her opponent's last night) don’t look for Williams to be generous. Williams has been on a roll this US Open as she took on Carla Suarez Navarro last night.

Serena Williams came out of the gate swinging, serving up ace after ace that Carla wouldn’t even dare try to contest. She was clearly out matched losing to Serena 6-0, 6-0. The last time Flushing Meadows witnessed a shutout in the quarterfinals was in 1989, when 18-time major title winner Martina Navratilova did it to Manuela Maleeva. "When you play against Serena," Suarez Navarro said, "you know these things can happen." Williams dominated every statistical category against Suarez Novaro with the match lasting only 54 minutes.

Serena continues to dominate in the Nike Lunar Mirabella 3 that resembled the colorway from Nike's "Claim the Night" pack. Unfortunately, you can only find this shoe on Serena’s foot. The Lunar Maribella 3 is the perfect shoe for hard court and its supreme traction has yet to fail her as she continues to steam roll the competition.

Williams faces off against Li Na of China in the Semifinals and should be a great match. Keep it here at Sneaker Report for continued coverage of the US Open.
