Serena Williams took the First Round of the US Open with ease as she defeated Francesca Schiavone. Williams was all business almost giving Schiavone a double bagel, finishing her first round match 6-0, 6-1. This performance was one of Serena’s best on the hard court this season. Williams’s play was so over powering for Schiavone that she looked for a hug from a ball boy. Yes, Serena will beat you so bad that you will need a hug in-between sets.

Serena is already having a great year after taking the French Open and her 16th Grand Slam title. She is now poised to dominate the US and continues her 2013 success.

On foot, Serena is known for wearing the Nike Mirabella 3 and has even worn the Nike Lunar Mirabella. During the US Open, she looks to be wearing a new Nike Lunar Mirabella that has a Mirabella 3 outsole, designed for better traction on the hard court. Let’s hope that Nike gives us a closer look at the new shoe soon.

Stay tuned to Sneaker Report as we will be covering the US Open all week long.
