The first two days of the Australian Open are off to a scorching hot start, both literally and figuratively, from Melbourne Park. With extreme temperatures reported, there's already been a few surprises such as Serena Williams debuting a brand new Nike shoe en route to a first round win. In men's action, it has more or less been business as usual as both Novak Djokovic (pictured) and Roger Federer have both picked up first round wins. There's still a long way to go though, so be sure to stick with Sneaker Report for ongoing Australian Open coverage.

On the college hardwood, No. 15 Kansas continued to improve with a 77-70 win over No. 8 Iowa State. Naadir Tharpe came up big for the Jayhawks with 26 points and 6 boards. No. 2 Syracuse and No. 23 Duke also picked up wins. Click through the slides to find out which players fueled these teams to the W.

In the NBA, Utah Jazz point guard Alec Burks led the night in scoring with 34 points and Carmelo Anthony powered the Knicks to an overtime victory for their fifth straight win. Find out more after the jump.
