While the NBA takes a brief break in preparation for the start of the regular season on Tuesday night, the 2013 MLB World Series is beginning to heat up and college football action is as thrilling as ever.
Game 3 of the World Series between the St. Louis Cardinals and Boston Red Sox came to an unusual conclusion with the game being decided on an obstruction call. After Boston third baseman Will Middlebrooks intentionally tripped Allan Craig of the Cards, third base umpire Jim Joyce wasted no time in signaling the obstruction. From there, Allan Craig headed to home plate and gave the Cardinals a 5-4 win to close out the 9th inning. With the Red Sox down 2-1, they'll be looking to even up the series during tonight's game in St. Louis.
On the college gridiron, Alabama, Florida State, and Oregon continued their undefeated campaigns and will likely hold on tight to their spots on the AP Poll's Top 3. Meanwhile, the day's biggest upset was No. 21 South Carolina squeezing out a 27-24 win to give No. 5 Missouri their first loss of the season. Elsewhere, unranked Minnesota dealt No. 24 Nebraska a 34-23 loss thanks to a stellar passing and rushing performance from QB Philip Nelson.
