Last night, the top teams in the NFC South and the NFC West faced off as the Seattle Seahawks hosted the New Orleans Saints. It was easily one of the biggest games of the season, and both teams came in looking to make a statement. From the jump, the Seahawks dominated, outscoring New Orleans 17-0 in the first quarter. It was all Seattle from there on, and in the end they dropped the Saints 34-7. Seahawks QB Russell Wilson had a great night with 310 yards and three touchdowns.
It wasn’t all bad news for New Orleans sports fans. In Chicago, the Pelicans and Bulls battled through an epic triple overtime stretch with New Orleans coming out on top 131-128. Pelicans power forward Ryan Anderson isn’t exactly known for his huge offensive numbers, but he had a stellar showing last night, shooting 7-11 from the three-point arc and dropping 36 total points.
Elsewhere in the NBA, Tim Duncan continued to defy age as he dropped a massive double-double on Atlanta with 23 points and 21 rebounds. Portland’s Lamarcus Aldridge also recorded a double-double with 28 points and 10 boards as Portland advanced to 15-3 with a win over the Pacers, dropping the NBA’s top team in the process.
All this plus college hoops action after the jump.
