The biggest stories coming out of Friday night’s sports action are, unfortunately, injury-related. For starters, Oklahoma City point guard Russell Westbrook has undergone knee surgery and will likely be out until after the All-Star break in February.
Elsewhere, in last night’s Sacramento-Miami game, LeBron James suffered a groin strain and an ankle sprain and is now questionable for tonight’s game against the #1 ranked Portland Trail Blazers.
It wasn’t all bad news, though, as DeMarcus Cousins had a huge night with 27 points, 17 rebounds, and 5 assists in the Kings’ win over the Heat. In Russell Westbrook’s absence, Kevin Durant had a big night with 34 points and 12 rebounds as he powered Oklahoma City past Charlotte. In Utah, The Lakers fell to the Jazz 103-105 after a 24 point, 9 assist showing from Gordon Hayward.
All this plus college hoops action and some early Bowl Game coverage after the jump.
