Back in December, we said that Kyrie Irving was the NBA player most deserving of his own signature sneaker. Last night, as he took the hardwood with the league's best players, Irving may have taken one step closer to making our prediction a reality.
In the offensive showcase that was the All-Star Game, the Eastern Conference rallied to a 163-155 win over the West. It was Irving, with 31 points and 14 assists, who took home the night's MVP award in just his second All-Star Game appearance. There was no slacking on the rest of the East roster, either, as LeBron put up 22 points and Carmelo Anthony set a record for most three-pointers in an ASG with 8. On the opposing side, Blake Griffin and Kevin Durant turned the night into a highlight reel in their respective All-Star colorway sneakers.
Meanwhile, in NCAA action, No. 18 Creighton dealt No. 6 Villanova a 101-80 upset. The Bluejays were fueled by 39 points and 7 boards from Doug McDermott, who surpassed Larry Bird for the 13th spot on the all-time Division I scoring leaders.
