As the nation's attention turns to the Winter Olympics in Sochi, there's still plenty of great action going down here in the States and across the pond. Yesterday, both NCAA men's basketball and the NBA's lineup delivered in a big way.
On the pro hardwood, Brandon Jennings and Josh Smith lit up the Denver Nuggets for a 126-109 home win. Around the league, San Antonio's Patty Mills played one of the best games of his career, shooting a remarkable 10-13 on the way to a 32 point, 7 rebound performance. In Minnesota, the depleted Timberwolves took a loss to the Trail Blazers as LaMarcus Aldridge continued his All-Star season.
NCAA men's Top 25 hoops also provided plenty of thrills and upsets. No. 4 Wichita State remains one of the top teams to beat with a 82-73 win over Northern Iowa as they advanced to 25-0 overall. In a Big 12 meeting, No. 15 Texas had their seven-game win streak snapped by Kansas State after a huge day of scoring from Malcolm Foster. In San Diego, the No. 5 Aztecs were able to back down Nevada and improve to 21-1.
All this, plus a hat trick from Chelsea's Eden Hazard after the break.
