In a weekend full of eliminations, the most surprising of them all may have come in the fourth round of the French Open. No. 18 Ernests Gulbis defeated No. 4 Roger Federer 6-7 (5), 7-6 (3), 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 in a grueling 3 hour, 42 minute match. The mighty Federer had reached the quarter finals of the French Open for the last nine years, suffering his earliest French Open loss in a decade.  Meanwhile, Gulbis advances to the second Grand Slam quarterfinals, calling it the biggest win of his career and apologizing to fans for eliminating one of their favorites. "Sorry I had to win. I know how everyone likes Roger. It was a tough match, but this is a sport," said Gulbis. As the round of eight begins to shape up, this will definitely shift the playing field. Gulbis is slated to take on No. 6 Tomas Berdych, who also advanced yesterday.

Check out the best French Open shoes, plus last night's best MLB cleats and the results of the Memorial Tournament from Dublin, Ohio after the break.
