Tim Lincecum hasn't been selected for the All-Star team since 2011, but don't let that fool you into thinking he's not still a force on the mound. Last night, Lincecum pitched the second no-hitter of his career in the Giants' win over the San Diego Padres. He struck out 6 batters over the 9-inning stretch and needed only 113 total pitches to finish off San Diego. Interestingly enough, his first no-hitter was also against the Padres less than a year ago. "I've always been that guy who will kind of go for the strikeout. I think my first no-hitter I had 13, so I think I was going for those a little bit more often," Lincecum said after the milestone game. The no-no puts him into elite territory, as he's one of just four pitchers to have two career no-hitters and also win two Cy Young awards.
On the World Cup pitch, Messi was remarkable, scoring twice to give Argentina the win over Nigeria and the top spot in Group F. For a recap on the best World Cup moments, as well as Lincecum's no-hitter cleats and yesterday's Wimbledon standouts, hit the gallery above.
