Can it get any worse? We're not saying the Boston Red Sox have completely fallen apart, but it's definitely not looking good for the defending World Series champs after last night's 1-14 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. Sitting at the bottom of the AL East with one of the worst records in the league, the Red Sox skid continued last night as Melky Cabrera and pitcher R.A. Dickey (pictured) put on a clinic in Fenway Park. Cabrera went 2-4 at the plate with two homers, including a three-run, 410-foot bomb in the 6th inning. In fact, the ball sailed so far that word quickly spread that it had broken a car windshield across the street. Meanwhile, on the mound, R.A. Dickey was relentless over seven innings, allowing just three hits and sitting down 10 batters.
Around the league, Atlanta's Ervin Santana held it down for 8 innings with 11 strikeouts in the Braves' 2-0 W over the Padres and the Pirates dropped San Francisco 5-0 after a shutout from Vance Worley. For all this and more of yesterday's MLB action, hit the gallery above.
